In a retro celebration of color and minimalistic design, Ice Cream and Pops delves further into Cory Oberndorfer’s visual lexicon of frozen treats. He explores the inextricable link between color and flavor, especially in sweets, and the triggers for pleasure and nostalgia. The geometric shapes, hard edges, and color compositions in these paintings recall artists of the 1950’s and 60’s like Ellsworth Kelly, Saul Bass, and Josef Albers.
